A little bit about me
A friend of mine started having Shiatsu while she was pregnant and she said I should train as I was always good with my hands and I was really interested in traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture. I had tried a few small massage courses but nothing full time.
So I too had Shiatsu treatments with lovely Lida. I was inspired by her and Shiatsu massage. Lida then became my teacher. I enrolled on a 3 year course with the Bristol College of Shiatsu in 2001.
The Shiatsu course is so comprehensive. You learn about Anatomy and Physiology & a little pathology. Then of course there is Chinese medicine & diet, Qi Gong, Makko-ho (Japanese Yoga) and meditation.
Once qualified I went on to study Energy Field Therapy in Birmingham. This helped me focus more on my sensitivity of touch and really brought deeper resonance to my work.
In 2009 I came across a VTCT Reflexology at my local college. Though the Reflexology has really morphed into a Japanese style with my Shiatsu training, it gives Reflex more depth on all levels for the receiver.
In 2014 went on to train at Cheltenham Thai Yoga college to learn Thai Yoga and redefine my Shiatsu practice. They work so well together. The Shiatsu is so grounding and the Thai so expanding and liberating. It was a short course, but enough to inspire and give a new dimension to my work.
